Presents New Horizons in International Contemporary Graphic DesignEchoing the ‘wild design’ spirit of the Kaohsiung Design Festival, Design Ho Yeh! – International Contemporary Posters Exhibition will be exhibiting some of the winning works from the 2014 Hong Kong International Posters Triennial. The Cantonese phrase ‘ho yeh’ (expressing cheer and applause) was used in the name of the exhibition to show that all the works exhibited in the poster triennial are the brilliant works of the designers. Approximately 200 posters designed by close to 90 designers, companies and groups from 21 countries or regions will be displayed at the exhibition, presenting new horizons in international contemporary graphic design.
Posters feature ideologies and important themes such as social institutions, race and class, environmental disasters, and the status of women. Other posters belong to categories such as business, advertisements, cultural programs etc. Some of the designers hope that through their designs, they can challenge notions and achieve breakthroughs in design framework, so that a wild energy that will not be tamed by institution can be born.
Works displayed at the Design Ho Yeh! – International Contemporary Posters Exhibition are award-winning and nominated works from the 2014 Hong Kong International Posters Triennial. By exhibiting award-winning and nominated poster works, Design Ho Yeh! will help to deepen the public’s understanding of the unique cultures and design characteristics of different countries and regions. The exhibition is also a cultural exchange collaboration between this two cities.
